These are the first official pictures of the next car being added to our model range – the ŠKODA Citigo. It’s the first ŠKODA to feature the new brand design style that will define future models, including the new badge that was unveiled at the World Dealer Conference early in 2011. The Citigo, which will be available in three and five-door versions, is due to be launched in the Czech Republic near the end of this year. The UK launch is expected to take place next summer.
Early details will soon appear in the UK press, including Auto Car, Auto Express and What Car?, after the ŠKODA UK Press and PR team took a select group of journalists to Prague for a VIP preview.
The Citigo will measure just 3.56 metres long, 1.65 metres wide and 1.48 metres high, making it a fantastically nimble car around town. But, as you’d expect from any ŠKODA, it will be packed with ‘Simply Clever’ touches to make it the ideal choice for those wanting a car for the city and the country.
It will offer a generous amount of interior space, thanks to its 2.42 metre-long wheel base, to provide enough comfort for four passengers even on long trips. The boot volume will be a sizeable 251 litres with the rear seats up, or 951 litres with the seats folded down.
The interior will have numerous storage compartments, cup holders and multi-media systems, as well as storage pockets on the sides of the front seats. A bag hook on the glovebox
The interior will have numerous storage compartments, cup holders and multi-media systems, as well as storage pockets on the sides of the front seats. A bag hook on the glovebox handle and a photograph holder on the central console are two more clever interior features.
One more clever touch is a portable navigation system – a first for any ŠKODA car. The device can be fitted to the dashboard and then removed easily for use on the go. The system is an integral part of the vehicle's onboard electronics, providing not only navigation, but also hands-free calling with built-in Bluetooth and onboard infotainment. The driver can also view information about the car, such as warnings from parking sensors etc, on the device’s five-inch touch screen.
Safety and economy high on the agenda
For the first time in any ŠKODA, the designers have used a Head-Thorax side airbag to protect the heads of both the driver and the front seat passenger. Along with a number of other items, this is part of a safety package usually found only on much larger cars.
Safety is enhanced further by ‘City Safe Drive’, a new brake assistance system that uses a laser and sensor to activate the brakes automatically at speeds below 30kph (18.64mph) when there is danger of a collision. Depending on the speed and the traffic situation, this ingenious system may prevent accidents or, at the very least, reduce the severity of collisions in city traffic.
ŠKODA Octavia VRs landspeed record at Bonneville
On Friday 19 August at 7:45am US time, a ŠKODA Octavia vRS officially became the fastest two-litre supercharged production car in the world.
The 600 bhp ‘salt spec’ racer, built to celebrate vRS’ 10th anniversary, registered a Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) sanctioned speed of 227.070 mph on Utah’s legendary Bonneville Salt Flat.
The previous record for what is known as the G/PS category was 216 mph, set in August 1998.
Driven by journalist Richard Meaden, the Octavia had set impressive speeds throughout the week and had broken the 200 mph barrier on six previous runs.
The Octavia’s record breaking runs consisted of two official runs of Bonneville's famous five-mile course at 225.513 mph on Thursday 18 August, and a return run at 228.647 mph on Friday 19 August.
“This is a truly stunning achievement,” said Robert Hazelwood, Director for ŠKODA UK. “Our goal was to break 200 mph as a celebration of 10 years of vRS, and we have achieved that, and significantly more. The success is a tribute to everyone who has worked so tirelessly and with such passion to make ŠKODA a world beater.”
"There was a big crosswind during the final run, almost blew me off the course at 228 mph,” said Richard Meaden. “It was scary at the time but worth the palpatations!”
The record means that Richard is officially a member of Bonneville's 'red hat club': those who have set a speed record at over 200mph.
“I'm not big on hats, but I'll make an exception in this instance."
The Milton Keynes based ŠKODA UK team behind the racer had spent the week leading up to Bonneville Speed Week putting the car through a rigorous dyno programme with the assistance of performance software and tuning outfit specialist REVO Technik.
ŠKODA UK Motorsport’s Andreas Mikkelsen scored his best result so far in the 2011
Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) after finishing second at the Azores Rally (14-16 July). He was pipped to the post by ŠKODA Motorsport’s Juho Hänninen, while Jan Kopecký ensured a magnificent one-two-three finish for ŠKODA by claiming the final podium spot.
"The rain made the stages very slippery and the visibility has been very poor at times. Conditions were tricky, but we had good pace notes, made very few mistakes and showed that we can challenge for rally wins. “The ŠKODA UK Motorsport team has done a fantastic job this weekend, Ola and I have done well and it’s been a great result for ŠKODA, with three cars on the podium – and congratulations to Juho on a good win.”
The next round of the 2011 IRC is the Czech Rally Zlin (26-28 August).
Azores Rally results
1. Juho Hänninen/Mikko Markkula (ŠKODA Fabia S2000)….2hrs 19mins 03.8secs
2. Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene (ŠKODA Fabia S2000)….+42.3secs
3. Jan Kopecký/Petr Starý (ŠKODA Fabia S2000)….+1mins 46.0secs
4. Bryan Bouffier/Xavier Panseri (Peugeot 207 S2000)….+3mins 36.2secs
5. Patrik Sandell/Staffan Parmander (ŠKODA Fabia S2000)….+4mins 33.3secs
6. Ricardo Moura/Sandro Eiró (Mitsubishi Lancer)….+6mins 07.0secs
Co-driven by Ola Fløene, the 22-year-old FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy driver mastered the wet and slippery gravel roads of the mid-Atlantic volcanic island to twice lead the event. He set six fastest and five second fastest stage times as he battled for victory with Hänninen. Andreas led after SS1, before a power steering problem dropped him temporarily to third after SS3. Andreas fought back magnificently to regain the lead after SS13, as he and Hänninen established a one-minute gap over their rivals. The deciding moment came on SS14, which at 13.63 miles was the longest stage of the event. In heavy rain and poor visibility, Andreas carefully negotiated the twisty test while Hänninen threw caution to the wind. Hänninen, the reigning IRC champion, completed the stage 13.9 seconds quicker than Andreas, turning a 2.7 second deficit into an 11.2 second lead. It was the largest margin between the pair during the entire rally, and with just three stages remaining the top two positions were confirmed. Andreas cruised through the final two stages to ensure his fantastic performance was rewarded with second position – and his first podium finish for the ŠKODA UK Motorsport team. The result puts Hänninen back in the lead of the IRC Drivers’ standings, moves Andreas up to sixth in the order and increases ŠKODA’s advantage at the top of the Manufacturers’ table. “I’m really pleased with our performance, because we’ve been fast all weekend and able to challenge for victory with good pace and rhythm,” said Andreas. “I could have gone faster towards the end, but it would have meant taking risks, and finishing on the podium was more important.
Skoda Contract Hire and Lease:
What are the main benefits for me in leasing a Skoda from Skoda Motor Contracts?
If you are currently an employee who enjoys the benefit of a company car, it is imperative that you calculate exactly how much personal taxation you are paying to the Revenue. Personal taxation is calculated on the full list price of the vehicle, and the related carbon dioxide (co2) particles emitted from the vehicle. Personal taxation is also calculated on any free fuel benefit that you may also receive from your employers. Full details about company car benefit in kind taxation can be found on www.Skoda.co.uk/fleet. Taking an allowance for your car from your employer, and a personal contract with Skoda Motor Contracts, eliminates any benefit in kind taxation.
What other advantages are there with Personal Contract Hire over buying?
There are many.
Low initial cash outlay
Skoda Motor Contracts deliver your new car to your home or work address
No more queuing for your road tax - your personal contract has road licence included for the full term of your agreement with us.
Peace of mind - 24 hour relay/breakdown/homestart is included with your new Skoda for the full term of your agreement.
Skoda Motor Contracts can also offer you a full maintenance and tyre replacement contract - an easy and simple solution which budgets for all your surplus motoring costs
No more disappointment when trading your car in - personal contract hire means that you hand the car back at the end of the agreed term, and drive away a new Skoda with a new contract.
Do I need to come and visit you to arrange my new car?
No. Our process is email and telephone user friendly. However, you are most welcome to pay us a visit, and view our extensive range of Skoda cars and vans.
Where can I have my car serviced?
Any authorised Skoda servicing/repair agent in the UK.
Your prices seem to be too good to be true, Are there any additional fees to pay?
No. We do not charge any documentation fees in setting up your contract, and you are dealing direct with a Skoda Main Authorised Agent -we ensure that you pay the minimum for your new Skoda vehicle.
Can I have the option to buy the vehicle at the end of the term?
No. Personal Contract Hire means that you have full use of the car whilst in your possession, and then release it for a replacement, at the end of the contracted period.
Can I add accessories to my Personal Contract Hire vehicle?
Yes. Tow Bars and Roof Racks are amongst many items that we fit for our customers.
How long does the process take from order to delivery?
Approximately 10 days. Factory orders take a little while longer.
Skoda Motor Contracts is a trading division of All Electric Garages Group plc, a privately owned company who have been supplying cars and related services from their south Birmingham dealerships since 1967.
In fact, the Skoda connection started in 1961 when John Leek, All Electric's current chairman, began selling Skoda Felicia's, Octavia's, and Combi's, imported into the UK by Pride & Clarke Ltd. Back in those days, John and his team would have to handle queues of people on Saturday mornings, and retail prices started at £550.00! John remarked that they were hair-raising cars to drive with their reverse gated gearboxes, and very unusual rear suspension. John's association with Skoda has been continuous from those early days, and he drives a Skoda Superb on a daily basis, in preference to his now demoted second car; the Range Rover!
Research has found evidence that even the most hardened, archetypal motor vehicle owner is becoming aware of the many benefits associated with contract hire. Full maintenance, tyre replacement, road fund licence, and 24 hour roadside assistance are commonplace services within a contract hire agreement.
Terms of use can be anything from 12 - 48 months with fixed monthly payments, very low initial capital outlay, and a "hand it back" facility which takes away the pain of end of use depreciation. Skoda Motor Contracts have taken great care in it's implementation of process to ensure that we make life easier for it's customers, whatever the distance between you and ourselves.
Skoda Motor Contracts has evolved to fulfil the needs of both company car drivers, and employees who are continually frustrated with high benefit in kind taxation and increasing moto vehicle depreciation. It is a well known fact that the majority of mainstream motor vehicles wlll depreciate by an average of 70% over a 36 month period.
Skoda Motor Contracts is wholly operated by Paul Jackson and his team of co-ordinators who ensure that you are kept advised of progress until your car is delivered.

Škoda Announces New Head of Marketing
HEIDI CARTLEDGE APPOINTED HEAD OF MARKETING
RESPONSIBLE FOR BRAND AND PRODUCT COMMUNICATIONS IN UK
RECORD YEAR IN THE UK WITH REGISTRATIONS OF OVER 41,000 VEHICLES, UP 10.5% ON 2009
Heidi Cartledge has been promoted to Head of Marketing at Škoda UK, stepping up from her current role as National Communications Manager for the brand.
In her new position, Cartledge will lead the eight-strong team responsible for all Škoda brand and product marketing communications in the UK. Her remit covers media planning and buying, advertising, digital, retailer support, events and sponsorship.
An experienced marketer, Cartledge has worked on both the agency and client side, starting her career with Royal Mail before moving to Proximity London, a London advertising agency, where she worked for five years. She then joined Volkswagen Group in 2003 as Marketing Communications Manager for the Volkswagen brand before taking up the position as Škoda National Communications Manager in January 2010. Commenting on the appointment, Robert Hazelwood Škoda UK Director, said: “Interest in this role was very high and Heidi’s appointment follows an extensive candidate review for this important position. Heidi proved to be a very strong candidate and her experience will definitely help to move the brand forward. We have committed to major growth plans in the UK during the next three years and this will see us investing significantly in marketing and brand communications. We will be spending more to promote the Škoda brand in 2011 than any previous year in Škoda UK’s history.”
Most recently, Cartledge was responsible for overseeing Škoda UK’s biggest-ever marketing campaign, working with acclaimed creative agency Fallon to produce a new, meaner version of its famous ‘Cake’ TV advertisement from 2007 in order to launch the new Fabia vRS.
Škoda UK Introduces 2011 Rally Car and Driver at Autosport Show
ANDREAS MIKKELSEN, DRIVING FOR ŠKODA UK MOTORSPORT UNVEILS NEW DESIGN
TELEVISION PRESENTER ZOE SALMON ASSISTED ANDREAS TO LIFT THE COVER OFF THE NEW ŠKODA UK MOTORSPORT DESIGN
Andreas Mikkelsen, glamorously assisted by television presenter Zöe Salmon, unveiled the Škoda UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 that he’ll drive in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge at the Autosport International Show on Thursday 13 January – and then flew to the south of France for the Rallye Monte Carlo recce, the last step in preparation for the 100th anniversary running of this iconic event.
The unveiling took place on the Škoda UK stand at the NEC where the full-spec Super 2000 rally car was on display throughout the show.
The new 2011 colour scheme reflects Škoda UK Motorsport’s close association with Škoda Motorsport, but remains loyal to the Milton Keynes-based operation by carrying a distinctive Union Jack on the bonnet and roof.
Andreas will make his competition debut in the car on the Rallye Monte Carlo, which starts in Valence next Wednesday (19 January).
It’s been a hectic schedule for the driver and team, but Škoda UK Motorsport was determined to support British motorsport by not only being present at the Autosport International Show, but having its biggest ever stand there too – over twice the size it was in 2010.
In addition to the Fabia S2000, two Fabia vRS models, reflecting the brand’s now-famous ‘Made of Meaner Stuff’ campaign and a 1958 single seater Škoda Spider racing car celebrating Škoda’s 110th anniversary in motorsport, were also on display.
Škoda Launches Fabia Monte Carlo
FABIA MONTE CARLO LAUNCHED TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF THE LEGENDARY MONTE CARLO RALLY AND 110 YEARS OF ŠKODA’S PARTICIPATION IN MOTORSPORT
A NEW FABIA MODEL WITH AGGRESSIVE, SPORTY STYLING AND ENHANCED EQUIPMENT
SET TO MAKE ITS FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE AT RALLYE MONTE CARLO
Škoda’s Fabia line is about to be extended with the introduction of the Monte Carlo, a new model with enhanced sports styling and bespoke interior. Launched to celebrate 100 years of the Monte Carlo Rally, and commemorate the 110 year anniversary of the brand's motorsport efforts, this special edition model is a nod towards Škoda’s sporting pedigree.
From the outside, the Fabia Monte Carlo boasts a dynamic look, underlined by the introduction of piano-black body trim, which extend over the wheel arches and down the full length of the car, a black roof, black door mirror covers, a black radiator grille top, smoked headlamps and black 17” lightweight Trinity alloy wheels.
Inside the Fabia Monte Carlo, customers can choose between all black or, red and black sports seats which boast additional side support. Both versions come with black roof lining, a perforated leather steering wheel with red stitching, leather handbrake and gearstick gaiter with red stitching (with the red-black interior option). To complete the enhanced sporty appeal silver kick plates and steel pedals are fitted as standard.
The new Fabia Monte Carlo is set to make its first public appearance at Rallye Monte Carlo
(19-22 January), where Škoda’s current all-conquering IRC championship winning rally car, the Fabia S2000, finished fourth (in class) on its first outing at this legendary rally in 2009. In 2010, Škoda Motorsport finished second, third and fifth (in class) with Hänninen, Vouilloz and Kopecký, respectively.
Available as hatchback only, the car’s trim is based on the current Fabia SE version, and the new Monte Carlo will be available with a wide range of engines.
Škoda Retailers Lead the Way in Shedding New Year Pounds
EXTENDED VAT-FREE OFFER WITH SAVINGS OF UP TO £3,388
CONTINUING LOW-RATE FINANCE SCHEMES
IMPROVED AND DISCOUNTED ŠKODA SERVICING PLAN FOR USED CARS
Gym-goers won’t be the only people shedding pounds this January – customers choosing a new Škoda will also be able to save thousands on the price of a new car. Thanks to a further extension of Škoda’s highly successful VAT-free campaign, the introduction of new finance schemes and a fixed-price service plan, buyers looking to pick up a New Year sales bargain are in for a treat.
While many car manufacturers are raising their prices across the board to take into account the rise in VAT, Škoda is actually increasing the coverage of its No VAT offer.
The VAT-free offer is available on all Fabia and Roomster models, as well as Octavia and Superb petrol models, meaning that buyers can make potential savings of £3,388. As before, there’s nothing complicated about the deal – customers pay for the car, Škoda takes care of the VAT.
For used vehicles, Skoda has extended its fixed-price service plan. The scheme, which allows owners to get up to 2 years of servicing for a fixed fee of £299, has been extended to include used vehicles up to six years old. What’s more, customers buying a used Škoda before 31 January 2011 will also get a £100 voucher, to be redeemed at their local Škoda retailer on parts, accessories or merchandise.
Finally, Škoda’s affordable finance schemes continue into 2011. With a bank-busting APR rate of just 5.9 per cent, Škoda’s hire purchase (HP) offer is well below anything customers can find on the high street. It means that customers can buy a better-specified car than they might otherwise be able to afford, another example of Škoda’s great value.
Škoda’s Solutions Personal Contract Plan (PCP) attracts a 7.9 per cent APR, is very flexible and allows drivers to drive off in a new Škoda for the cost of one month’s payment as a deposit. Both the HP and PCP offers can be combined with Škoda’s outstanding VAT-free campaign.
November 2010
Skoda has revisited one of its most famous TV ads, the feelgood commercial featuring bakers lovingly making a cake car to the strains of Julie Andrews, reinventing it with a heavy metal twist to promote a new Fabia model.
The TV campaign, created by ad agency Fallon, is described as a "darker twist" on the 2007 commercial called "Cake" that featured Julie Andrews track My Favourite Things. The original ad featured the line "Made of lovely stuff", while the new commercial will use the strapline "Made of meaner stuff". Skoda's new campaign, featuring a hard rock version of My Favourite Things by the band Sound Tree, replaced the bakers with a motley crew of "meaner" car-makers. Cake is substituted by items including snake venom, samurai swords and barbed wire. A performance of the ad is planned for Top Gear Live, the touring spin-off of the BBC2 show, with the cake makers behind the Fabia competing against the "mean" production crew behind the new Fabia vRS.The TV campaign, which features fleeting references to the "Cake" ad to remind viewers of the deliberate reinvention, breaks today .
Commemorative Special Edition Fabia vRS S2000
- SPECIAL EDITION FABIA VRS TO CELEBRATE ŠKODA’S MOTORSPORT SUCCESS IN 2010
- 1.4 TSI 180BHP ENGINE WITH DSG TRANSMISSION
- LIMITED EDITION RUN OF 200 CARS
Following a successful assault in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this year, Škoda has announced a special edition Fabia vRS S2000 to commemorate the all-conquering Fabia S2000 which helped the brand to take the IRC Constructors’ Champion title.
The special edition model is fitted with a 1.4 TSI 180bhp turbocharged and supercharged engine, which provides a 0-62mph time of 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 139mph. The engine is mated to a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch gearbox which can operate in two modes – fully automated and manual Tiptronic.
Production is limited to only 200 vehicles worldwide with 20 cars allocated for the UK. Offered in Rallye Green, with a white roof, white 17” ‘Gigaro’ alloy wheels and race livery – similar to those which adorn the IRC championship winning Fabia S2000.
Škoda took part in 11 of this year's 12 IRC events and celebrated victory at seven of them. Besides these wins, Škoda crews achieved a further 17 podium positions.
The Fabia vRS S2000 arrives in the UK in January 2011. Prices to be finalised soon.
Škoda Motorsport Confirms Entry for the 2011 Monte-Carlo Rally
IRC Manufacturers’ Champions’, Škoda Motorsport (Factory), has today confirmed its attendance at the 2011 Monte-Carlo Rally (19-22 January), which next year celebrates its 100 year anniversary. Competing at the event will be both Škoda Motorsport crews – reigning 2010 IRC Driver’s Champion Juho Hänninen & Mikko Markkula, and Jan Kopecký & Petr Starý, this year's IRC runners-up.
“The Monte-Carlo Rally is very special to us, especially because it is where we made our debut with the Fabia Super 2000 in 2009. Next year will be the 100th anniversary of this legendary event, while Škoda Auto will also be celebrating 110 years of motorsport, so it’s certainly an interesting combination. Furthermore, this rally is one of the best motorsport meetings in the world, and we are highly motivated for a successful event,” said Michal Hrabánek, Head of Škoda Motorsport.
